When I received the wooden bowl, the first thing that I noticed was the interesting flow of tree rings. I stained the bowl with a thin layer of deep blue acrylic paint to bring out the grains. As I added the layers, I was reminded of the vastness of the cosmos. The white dots trace the asymmetry of the rings, like silver linings around dark clouds. The dark blue drips from the edges lead to the center of the bowl, depicting the interconnectedness of it all.
