Pushing the Blues

When I was asked to make a piece for “Silver Linings” I was in a creative slump. The pandemic hit me hard. I was a caregiver, isolated from friends and family and then a widow. But, I thought this could be the push I need to create a piece for an organization I really care about. Fiber is my medium and I wanted to incorporate it onto the wooden vessel. I dyed indigo fabric while spending time with my oldest and dearest friend on a much needed respite from caregiving during the pandemic and incorporated it in a traditional quilting block. I love the ability to mix textures and techniques to create something cohesive. I didn’t always know where the piece would go but the next step always came to me and here it is full of silver linings.
