Shift Your Perspective

Acrylic on wood bowl

I traced the natural wood grain with mica-flecked acrylic paint on the concave portion of the bowl and with silver metallic acrylic paint on the convex portion of the bowl. The path of the paint follows the natural pattern of the material. The duality of the dark and light on the two portions of the bowl indicates a shifting of perspective. Each experience has an element of light and offers a moment of reflection.
