Helen Criales is a conceptual artist working primarily within the photographic medium. play + exploration is a mixed media piece dedicated to the practice of play and exploration within her artistic practice. Play and exploration are states of being that lead to opportunities of artistic and self growth. For this piece specifically, mylar and the conceptual theme of a “silver lining” was the vehicle for exploration. Mylar’s reflective and light distorting qualities lends itself to the idea that process is non-linear.
