Glimmer

By definition, a glimmer is “a faint or wavering light.” We say there is a “a glimmer of hope,” or there is not. In ordinary days as well as in darker, uncertain days like we have had this past year, I look for light in the spaces around me. Some days it is hard to see; other days it is brilliantly unavoidable. Often it is peripheral, a gentle longing—faint yet steady in its flickering dance, fading and reigniting.
